About this indicator

What it measures

Annual percentage change in GDP measured at constant prices, adjusting for changes in prices over time.

How to interpret it

Positive values indicate real economic expansion; negative values indicate contraction. The rate does not show the size of the economy.

Important limitation

National accounts revisions and changes in base years can affect historical growth rates.

Year-on-year change compares consecutive observed years only. Percentage-based indicators show percentage-point differences; other indicators show percentage change. Missing values remain missing.
